A private taxi from Skopje Airport (SKP) to Ohrid takes about 2 hours 40 minutes and costs a fixed 9,000 den (~€147) per vehicle, not per person. Your driver meets you inside arrivals with a nameplate, tracks your flight at no cost, and helps with the bags.
Public transport from the airport generally means a connection in the city, so check the current timetables if you plan to use it. A pre-booked transfer goes straight from the terminal door to your accommodation on Lake Ohrid.
How much does a taxi from Skopje Airport to Ohrid cost?
The fare is fixed when you book and does not change afterwards. Nothing is added for luggage, tolls, taxes or a delayed landing, and you pay the driver at the end of the journey in denars or euros.
- Skopje Airport → Ohrid
- 9,000 den (~€147) per vehicle, up to 4 passengers
- Skopje Airport → Ohrid Old Town
- 10,000 den (~€163), the historic streets above the lake
- Skopje Airport → Struga
- 10,000 den (~€163): the northern shore, about 20 minutes further
- Night pickup
- Pickups between 23:00 and 06:00 add 100 den to the published fare
Four people travelling together pay the fare once. Split between a family or a group of friends, a private transfer usually costs less per head than separate bus tickets and a taxi at the other end.
How long is the drive from Skopje to Ohrid?
The journey is roughly 180 km and takes about 2 hours 40 minutes door to door. The route runs south-west on the A1 motorway, then the road through Kičevo, which was upgraded in recent years and is comfortable in any season.
Allow a little longer in deep winter or during the August holiday weekends. If you are heading back for a departing flight, we recommend leaving Ohrid 4 hours before take-off so there is room for traffic and check-in.
Meeting your driver in arrivals
- Your driver waits inside the terminal, past customs, holding a nameplate with the lead passenger's name.

- If you cannot find your driver, call the number on your confirmation; dispatch will connect you straight away.

- The whole vehicle
- A comfort car seating up to 4 passengers with luggage. The price is per car, not per seat.

- Nameplate pickup inside the terminal and help carrying bags to the car.
- Tolls and taxes

Skopje Airport to Ohrid by bus or train: what to expect
There is no railway station at Skopje Airport and no direct bus to Ohrid. Travelling by public transport means the airport shuttle into Skopje city, then the intercity bus from the main bus station, with a total journey of five to seven hours depending on connections.
That works if you land in the morning and are not in a hurry. For an evening arrival, a family with luggage, or anyone who wants to be at the lake the same day, a private transfer is the practical option.
Where we drop you off around Lake Ohrid
The fare above covers Ohrid town and the hotel strip along the lake. The Old Town on the hill and Struga on the northern shore are separate published fares, and the lake villages further south (Lagadin, Peštani, Trpejca and Sveti Naum) are priced individually.
Type your hotel, apartment or street into the booking form and the correct fare is shown before you confirm. If your accommodation is hard to find, add a note or a map pin and the driver will have it in advance.
