A private transfer from Ohrid to Tirana Airport (TIA) covers 135 km and takes about 2 hours 45 minutes, including the crossing into Albania at Qafe Thane above Struga.

The fare is 9,200 den (~€150) per vehicle, fixed when you book, with tolls and road taxes on both sides of the border already inside it. We collect you from your address around Lake Ohrid.

Tirana is the shortest airport run from Ohrid after Ohrid Airport itself, and it is a larger airport with a wider choice of routes to Western Europe, which is why some travellers fly out of it rather than Skopje. Compare fares yourself before deciding.

What time should you leave Ohrid?

Allow about five hours before take-off: 2 hours 45 minutes of driving, time in hand at the border, and two hours for check-in. Send us the flight number and we set the pickup from it.

Summer weekends can queue at Qafe Thane. We quote the journey with margin rather than the best case, and a slow crossing does not change the fare.

Crossing the border, what to bring

The route runs through Struga to Qafe Thane, drops to Pogradec on the Albanian shore of the lake, then climbs through Elbasan on the SH3 towards Tirana. The airport is north of the city at Rinas.

Passengers are responsible for checking current passport, ID and visa requirements with the official authorities before travel. Requirements depend on your nationality and change from time to time, so check before you book rather than on the day.

Tirana or Skopje for the flight home?

Tirana is closer: 135 km against 180 km to Skopje, and it usually has more choice and cheaper fares to Western Europe. The trade-off is the border and the mountain section.

Skopje is the simpler journey with no crossing and mostly motorway. If the ticket prices are close, Skopje is the easier ride. If Tirana saves you a connection, the transfer is straightforward and we run it year round.

A comfort car takes up to 4 passengers with luggage for one price, not one per seat. Say so at booking if you are close to the limit.

Child seats cost 300 den (~€5) each on request, and free cancellation applies up to 24 hours before pickup.
