A private transfer from Ohrid to Thessaloniki Airport (SKG) covers about 295 km and takes roughly 4 hours: east past Resen and Bitola, across the border at Medžitlija–Niki, then south through Florina and Edessa to the airport on the coast.
It is the shortest of our international transfers and the easiest drive of the four: one border, no mountain passes and good road the whole way. We collect you from your address around the lake and drop you straight at departures.
How much is a transfer from Ohrid to Thessaloniki Airport?
This is a cross-border run rather than one of our published airport fares, so we quote it per journey. Send us the date, the flight time and the number of passengers and you get a written price for the whole car, fixed before you travel.
The quote covers the whole vehicle, luggage, Greek motorway tolls, the vignette on the Macedonian side and every border fee. Nothing is added at the end of the journey.
- Quoted per journey
- Written price for the whole car, up to 4 passengers, fixed once you confirm
- Night departure
- Early starts between 23:00 and 06:00 are priced with the journey rather than as a flat surcharge
- Payment
- Cash to the driver in euros or denars. Cross-border transfers are usually quoted in EUR. Confirm the currency when you book
Four passengers travelling together pay the quote once, not four times. Larger groups are quoted as a minivan or a second car.
The route: Ohrid to Thessaloniki through Bitola
The drive leaves Ohrid over the Galičica road past Resen to Bitola, then 16 km south to the crossing at Medžitlija–Niki. On the Greek side it runs through Florina and Edessa before joining the A2 Egnatia Odos east to Thessaloniki and the airport.
Medžitlija–Niki is a small crossing and usually quicker than the main Greek–Macedonian border at Evzoni, which is why we route this way rather than through Gevgelija.
- Every passenger must carry the travel documents their nationality requires. Passengers are responsible for checking current passport, ID and visa requirements with the official authorities before travel.
- Greece uses the euro and North Macedonia the denar, but the fare is agreed in advance so the rate does not affect you.
- Check your own requirements with the IATA Travel Centre or the destination country’s official border authority.
- A slow border queue does not change the agreed price.
How long does the drive from Ohrid to Thessaloniki take?
About 4 hours for the 295 km, including the crossing at Medžitlija–Niki. It is comfortably a half-day journey, so an afternoon flight out of SKG still means a relaxed morning on the lake.
For a flight from Thessaloniki, leave Ohrid roughly 6 hours 30 minutes before take-off to cover the drive, the border and check-in. Send us the flight and we set the pickup time from it.
Thessaloniki, Skopje or Ohrid: which airport works best?
Thessaloniki is the largest airport in northern Greece and its summer charter schedule is the widest in the area, so it is worth comparing against Skopje. At 295 km it is only a little further than Skopje and the drive is genuinely easy.
Skopje is closer at 180 km with no border, and Ohrid Airport itself is 10 km from town when the seasonal flights are running. Choose on the ticket: the transfers to all three are straightforward and we run them year round.

Where we pick you up around Lake Ohrid
We collect you from your hotel, apartment or address in Ohrid town, the Old Town on the hill, the lakeside hotel strip or Struga: the quote is the same across the Ohrid area. Peštani, Trpejca, Sveti Naum and the villages further south are quoted with the same journey.
Enter the address in the booking form and add a map pin or a note if it is hard to find. The driver comes to the door at the time we agree, not to a rank in the centre, and calls ahead if you would rather be met outside.
